We are a group of like-minded individuals searching for the truth in paranormal occurrences through investigative research and science. We originally started the groundwork of the team in June of 2008 then known as "Louisville Debunkers". We had worked on ideas, done some small investigations, etc for a while as we were building up our equipment inventory to really get serious. In 2009, we established a more fitting name of The Society for Paranormal Occurrences Of Kentuckiana, and moved from the small Facebook free sites to a registered domain name and hosting space, and the site you see today has been a work in progress since then. We also formalized our case reporting and a numbering system during this time, which is why our case files that are published show up starting in 2009. S.P.O.O.K. uses an Inductive (bottom-up) approach of scientific investigation. That is, we make quantifiable observations of unexplained phenomena, then from that make hypotheses' in order to come to conclusions on what may be causing experiences. Basically, we look at the facts and the data to try to find patterns and explanations, in the hopes of possibly proving ghosts or a haunting. The typical approach many groups use to investigating which we do not utilize is Deductive (top-down) where the basic theory is that a ghost exists and basing a hypothesis from this, and then trying to correlate any findings to that ghost or haunting.
